In mid-2015, Shaughnessy Heights United Church approached me about supporting their revisioning project. I worked with the communication team to develop a new visual identity and a host of marketing materials.
The story of the symbol
Before we look at the work, let’s talk about the new logo. I always say my work is story-based, and the story I behind this logo is a compelling one.
Each of us is a vibrant and vital thread in the divine tapestry of Spirit that is ever-becoming. Each of us exists at a cross-roads, transforming each moment…seeking alone and together to see, to know, to embrace, to share and to experience God within, among and through all creation.
Together, we embrace our congregation…made stronger by the inter-weaving of our experiences, our perspectives and our shared willingness to invite community. We come together at the meeting place of faith and life and commit to each other to grow in Spirit.
Our symbol, grounded in the Cross and represented as a circle rich in colours, celebrates the diversity of our community and reminds us of God’s wholeness… universal, infinite and eternal love for all.
“God is a circle whose centre is everywhere and whose circumference is nowhere.” ~ Hermes Trismegistus
